Funny story, before my accident, I used to be a runner. That was my stress relief. I would just walk out my front door and run. I tried to do that post-accident many times. I'd make it maybe a half mile and it was just so terrible, I would stop. It was frustrating to have something taken away that used to be my constant. I signed up for this challenge because running is still hard for me. I hate it. It makes my legs feel awful. I wanted to force myself to do something I would normally shy away from, something that shattered any comfort zone I had. Bonus that I would be supporting my friend at the same time. 22.4 miles in four days. I completed a half marathon (a distance I never thought I would do), 5k and 10k. Not only that, I PRed my 5.5 mile, 10k and 15k times in the process. I was told I would never run again. I guess people should stop telling me I can't do things. 🤷‍♀️ Pretty dang proud of myself. @modern_coach_chris @modernstrength @wheelwod @hmf_events #adaptive #adaptiveaf #adaptiveathlete #iamadaptive #momswithmuscle #fitover40 #tellmeicant #iusedtohaveoneandahalflegs #nowihavenolegs 😆 #everydaystronger #everydaybetter #pushyourself #shatteryourlimits

Jackson Wyatt Roark:

15 minute AMRAP.
2 Power cleans 95/135,
47 sit ups,
5 pull ups,
29 DB thrusters.

Background: National Pregnancy And Infant Loss Awareness month occurs every October. During the entire month we come together to support parents who have lost a child either during pregnancy or in infancy. On October 15 we are encouraged to light a candle at 7:00 PM to memorialize the cherished babies that we continue in this world without.

From @kympossiblexoxo, My brother Jason, a fellow Crossfitter, and his wife Kasie were expecting their first child and our family could not be more excited. They had been trying to become parents for six years and so when my brother called me on May 28th saying they were on their way to the hospital I was bursting with joy. I remember telling him, “I know that because of the pandemic I would have to wait to meet that sweet boy but I would wait as long as they needed because he was finally coming.” God, how could we have known… Complications occurred during child birth and Kasie and Jason’s world fell apart. Jackson was rushed to Oakland Children’s Hospital where he underwent everything medically possible, but ultimately my brother held his son in the evening of May 29th as Jackson’s heart failed. I cannot even think to put words to their devastation.

After Adam and I talked to my brother we modified an existing Crossfit WOD created in memory of Sam Oliver Frank, a baby who passed unexpectedly of SIDS in 1987. We kept the movements from Sam and changed the rep scheme to honor the time and date that Jackson was born. The 15 minutes represents the date of National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Day of Acknowledgement. My family and I will continue to do this workout every year to honor my nephew but I am incredibly grateful to do it for the first time with my WheelWOD friends.

Stay with me for a minute. Yes I have Cerebral Palsy. Yes it’s @worldcpday and I’m all here for it!!!! Growing up I never once thought “hey... let’s try weightlifting”. NEVER crossed my mind once. One thing I’ve learned and will continue to spread is that 1) all CP looks different on each person. 2) MOVE if and when you can. I fell in love with this sport called @crossfit really fell in love with it around 3-4 years ago when I doing @stephthehammer and @wheelwod. #worldcpday #cplifts #adaptiveathletes @atlantaadaptiveathletecmty #liftalltheweights #powercleans
